FAQs

MA LOADER / LOCK

Do I need a special or modified 5.56/.223 Upper Receiver to use the MA Loader?

You do not need a special or modified 5.56/.223 Upper Receiver to use the MA Loader. It is designed to work with all MIL Spec upper receivers.

I have seen the MA Feed Ramp used on rifles in some of your recent social media postings. Do I need to purchase the MA Feed Ramp to use the MA Loader on my MIL Spec rifle?

No, you do not need to purchase the MA Feed Ramp for the MA Loader to function without issue. If you are looking to slightly improve your reload speed, we recommend adding the MA Feed Ramp to your MIL Spec rifle but again, it is not necessary.

I have seen the 5.56/.223 MA Loader which will be released in April. Does Mean Arms plan on creating loading devices for other calibers and capacities?

Yes, our engineers are hard at work already designing for those calibers and capacities. We will release these products in order depending on customer demand.

If I install the MA Lock Device on my 5.56/.223 MIL Spec rifle to make it permanent, can I remove the MA Lock at some point in the future should I move to a different state?

Yes, our MA Loader device will be removable WITH disassembly of the action which is a required action to maintain legality in some states. This process will in no way harm your rifle.

Will the MA Loader work function with .300 ACC Blackout ammunition?

Regarding the 300 AAC Blackout, we have had mostly good results using the AR-15 MA Loader (5.56/.223) with those rounds. Because the profile of the bullet is a little different, we have seen that there is a chance the bullets can fall out easier. Depending on your specific ammo and rifle you may not notice any issue. Those issues have all been with fully retaining the bullets when not loading. We have had no issue loading using those rounds in the 5.56/.223 MA Loader. We are looking at having a specific 300BLK MA Loader just so it works perfectly as designed. Feel free to try it out and it may be fine with your configuration.

What is the release date of the AR10 variant of the MA Loader?

Once I have fixed my magazine in place with the MA Lock, can I remove my magazine for maintenance or a type 3 malfunction?

If you are interested in just being able to remove the magazine either for cleaning or due to a failure, it is possible to remove the magazine without removing the MA Lock.  You may notice in our MA Lock YouTube Installation video that you are able to insert a magazine with the lock installed.  Because the magazine and mag catch have a taper in the insertion direction, it will slide into the lower and latch.  To remove the magazine once installed, you will need to remove the magazine base plate and drop the guts (spring and follower) of the magazine out the bottom.  Once you have the shell of the magazine, you can insert the safety tool (included with every MA Loader) between the lower and the left side (mag catch side) of the magazine from the top of the firearm.  This will squeeze the magazine enough that you can slide it out of the lower receiver.

Are MA Loaders and MA Locks capable of being shipped to CA or NY?

Here is our most recent take with regards to CA DOJ and the NY Safe Act. After reading the most recent version of the new CA DOJ rules regarding assault rifles, it is our belief that by fixing your magazine in place with our MA Lock, you no longer possess an assault rifle. Therefore any "evil" features you keep on your rifle become a moot point. We designed our MA Lock product is a complete fixed magazine solution. Once installed it cannot be removed with a tool, which satisfies CA and NY state law. We have no issue shipping to customers in CA or NY. Our MA Loader has no metal parts and renders the rifle mechanically impossible to fire while attached to your upper receiver. It is not by definition a magazine under California law. It is a loading assist device.

Will the MA Loader function on left handed upper receivers?

Our MA Loader unfortunately will not function correctly on a left side ejection port. We do expect at some time in the future to reverse mold our MA Loader specifically for left handed individuals. Please check back often to our website for new products announcements and pre order products.

MEAN CUSTOM RIFLES

Why buy a MEAN rifle or lower receiver?

We are shooting enthusiasts who saw the need for a light, tough, high performance AR-15 platform. With our 100 years of combined injection molding and engineering experience, we developed our MEAN Hybrid-15 lower receiver to meet that need. Using a 7075-T6 billet machined aluminum insert for strength in the critical buffer attachment point, and high strength composite polymer for the remainder, our hybrid lower receiver has the strength of an all aluminum lower with the lighter weight of a polymer. MEAN firearm owners can be sure that they have purchased a high quality firearm, and are reassured by the industry's only transferable lifetime warranty.

______________________________________________________________________

I purchased a MEAN Hybrid-15. What all is included with my purchase?

In the box you should find the complete carbine, a MEAN owner's manual, two 30 round magazines, warranty/registration card, and lock. This will be included inside a MEAN reinforced cardboard case with carrying handle and foam lining.

______________________________________________________________________

What ammunition is recommended for use in MEAN rifles?

We only recommend the use of factory loaded, brass cased, non-corrisive ammunition. We urge all of our customers to stay away from steel cased ammo and reloads. In regards to our 5.56 carbines, all are chambered and function tested with 5.56 ammunition. It is safe to shoot .223 Rem but not all will perform on the same level. Don't mix 5.56 and .223 in the same magazine. Ammunition manufactured by SAAMI member companies do not use corrosive primers. Find some ammmunition that works, and stick with it.

What is the proper "break-in" procedure for a chrome lined AR barrel?

After firing a couple hundred rounds, the chrome lining will "polish out" from its light, flat gray, factory-new look to a brightly reflective, polished appearance. During this break-in period, excessive cleaning with solvent or brush should be avoided as that will only prolong the time (and number of rounds) it takes to achieve the final "bullet polishing" of the barrel.

Does my MEAN rifle need to be sighted in?

What will void my MEAN Lifetime warranty?

Using the firearm in a manner inconsistent with it's intended purpose. If you have used the firearm and just plain wore it out we cover that. However if you have abused and caused injury to the firearm then you might have voided the warranty. IE; Using it as a hammer, dropping the firearm from more than a few feet, using it in an unlawful manner, etc.

How do I transfer the warranty of my MEAN firearm?

Contact MEAN Support to update the warranty and transfer the firearm warranty into the new owners name.
